NAXEN® (naproxen) is a
non-steroidal analgesic / anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
belonging to the propionic acid group. NAXEN®
is associated with rapid onset of pain relief and
sustained anti-inflammatory effect. Apart from the
proven clinical efficacy in rheumatic and non-rheumatic
indications, NAXEN® enjoys a well established
safety and tolerability profile, with over 25 years of
worldwide clinical experience. |

Adults: Rheumatoid arthritis,
osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, usually 500mg
to 1g daily taken in two doses at 12 hours intervals or
a single administration. Acute gout: 750 mg
initially, then 250mg every eight hours until attack has
passed. Acute musculoskeletal disorders and
dysmenorrhoea: 500mg initially, then 250mg at 6 – 8
hours intervals with maximum daily dose after the first
day of 1250mg. |

GI – nausea, vomiting, pain, rarely
bleeding, ulceration, stomatitis, colitis. Hepatorenal –
rarely jaundice, fatal hepatitis, nephropathy,
heamaturia. Dermatological/hypersensitivity – rashes,
urticaria, alopecia, angio-oedema, photosensitivity,
rarely vasculitis, erythema multiforme, stevens johnson
syndrome. CNS – headache, insomnia, tinnitus, vertigo,
visual / hearing disturbances, functional disorders,
rarely aseptic meningitis. |
